MENTORING, THERAPY & TRAINING

Does your art practice take you into hospitals, schools, prisons, care homes, workplaces, or community settings to make art with people?

Many artists working in these contexts find themselves in unexpectedly complex situations or relationships. This is often exciting and stimulating, sometimes puzzling or confusing and occasionally distressing.

Artists in public and environmental arts projects, Arts & Health, outreach, community work, schools and other residencies, need:

*Emotional literacy and empathic, practical skills to cope with strong feelings and intense responses.

*Safe and ethical working practices, and understanding of different perceptions of risk.

*Understanding and skills to cope with the range of relationships which develop between people working creatively in groups.

One of our chief needs as creative beings is support. Unfortunately this can be hard to come by’.

Julia Cameron.

One of the hardest things we have learn is how much we don’t know

Insider Art are looking to develop a further Arts & Health Training specifically for Artists.

This will run as a series of four day workshops. It will involve talks on a range of issues presentations, art making and discussion.

If you’re an artist working in Health contexts let us know what you want or feel you need to know more about.

Insider Art offer mentoring, support and training to help meet a wide range of needs. Whether you are an individual artist or part of a group, interested in very specific training or looking to generally extend your practice we are able to help you devise the programme you need..

Insider Art provide a variety of staff development and training opportunities. From half day workshops to long term staff support, team building to supervision. We provide specific training in how to create quality and ethical art making experiences; understanding the psychological implications of art making; how to safely engage children and vulnerable adults in art making; ways to develop personal creativity and much more.
Contact us to discuss your team, group or individual needs whether for a one off introductory session or more substantial input.
We work across the Arts & Health field: from nurses, doctors and occupational therapists, to artists, designers and craftspeople as well as social workers, teachers, voluntary sector workers and anyone else who is interested.
